3 Must Sees While Visiting Antarctica

Between watching penguins welcome their young to kayaking with the whales, Antarctica is full of beautiful landscape and incredible wildlife that you’ll find no where else.  With all of the exploration to be done, what should you choose?

Here are 3 Must Do’s While Visiting Antarctica:

  1. Kayak with humpback whales – Yes, you can do this in the warm waters of Maui, Hawaii but the experience in Antarctica is second to none. Why?  The remote ice coves for one.  Imagine yourself entering a cove filled with what is to you ice sculptures but are none other than a typical icicle for locals.  Then you look to your left to find a huge humpback whale breaching alongside of you.  It’s a feeling that will stay with you forever.
  2. Cross the Drake Passage – Whether by ship or air, crossing the Drake Passage is a bucket list sight to see. If you’re the adventurous type then a trip via ship is for you because you’ll find yourself in some of the strongest currents on earth while you go through a somewhat narrow channel.  If by air, you’ll be able to look down on the rough waves and experience its power from afar.  Either way, an exploration tour is the way to see it.
  3. Say hello to the penguins – No trip to Antarctica is complete without a visit to see the penguins. Antarctica has 6 different species and all are beautiful and unique.  They aren’t in a zoo or behind barbed fences, they’re wandering around and that’s an incredibly freeing experience to witness.  You’ll leave feeling refreshed and in touch with nature for sure.
