The Republic of Maldives is a country located in South Asia and is a dream vacation location for many people. Archipelago is, in fact, one of the most popular honeymoon locations in the world. Roux Luxury Travels can handle your vacation to the Maldives and make sure that you have a fun stress-free time. In the meantime, you should know the following things about the Maldives before you embark on your vacation there.

· When to Visit

The Maldives is a tropical place so the temperature is relatively stable year-round. It, however, experiences monsoon rains so if you’re going to go, the best time is from November to April. Between November and January can be a bit windy but you’ll have lots of sun. There is also something to be said for going during off-peak seasons but just watch out for Muslim holidays and weather warnings. For Surfers, however, the timing is the opposite. Monsoon season is when to get the best waves so go in April, May, September or October.

· What to Wear

Dress modestly while on inhabited islands, including the capital, Malé. Both men and women should not wear clothes that stop above the knees. Women should also make sure to cover their shoulders and elbows. They should also wear loose-fitting clothes. Couples should refrain from public displays of affection. While inside your room, you can dress as you wish. The island resorts are also a different case as they are more tourist-friendly when it comes to dressing but do note that sunbathing topless or in the nude is prohibited, no matter where you are.

· Safety

In the Maldives, rates of petty crimes and violence, as well as any major instances of terrorism, are low to nonexistent. The country is on a Level 2 threat level from the U.S. State Department, which is the same as the U.K., France, Spain, and Italy. Take normal travel precautions as you would when in a different place, but the major danger you’re likely to face here is the natural strong currents which the beaches are known for. There is a danger of drowning due to that.

· Other Information

We’ve already mentioned that the Maldives is a purely Muslim country so apart from the dressing, alcohol is also forbidden. You can only have these at the holiday resorts like earlier mentioned. You should also note that during Muslim Holidays like Ramadan, you will find it hard to get food at local businesses and they will be closed often. You should also know that the water you will be drinking is recycled which means fewer minerals and taking of seashells is illegal.
