6 Travel Tips for Your Visit to Hawaii

After a long time dreaming about it and planning, you are finally ready to travel to Hawaii. That’s great news! Why not let us at Roux Luxury Travel in Baton Rouge, Louisiana plan your trip there. Hawaii is a popular year-round travel destination and you will have an enjoyable time there. The following tips from us will get you ready for your trip.

· The Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit is during the dry seasons of May and June and also September and October. You should, however, expect rain even in the dry season as Hawaii is one of the wettest spots on planet earth. You should, however, note that except when it concerns a major storm, most of the native weather forecast for Hawaii is incorrect.

· What Island to Go To

Hawaii has 6 islands and they are all unique although separated by a few miles of ocean. The major distinctions are due to topography and development. Which island you should visit depends on what you want to do. If you are looking for authenticity, you’ll find it at Molokai and Big Island. For Hiking, we’d suggest Kaui. Big Island and Maui are great for road trips and are also known for the awesome beach resorts. If it’s a family trip, you should also go to Maui and Big Island and diving and snorkeling are great there too.

· What to Pack

Apart from your usual holiday gear, you should also carry, snorkeling gear, reef shoes, car chargers, rain gear, evening wear, beach clothes, sun protection, mosquito repellant, waterproof pouches, picnic gear, dry sacs, and heavy winter gear. You’ll need the winter gear for Mauna Kea or Halekala.

· Transportation

We’d recommend renting a car. Distance is often longer than you’d estimate and you don’t need a big car. Rental is also quite cheap. The bus system on the islands is geared towards the locals so they might not be helpful. Hitchhiking is also common and acceptable. Cycling is popular but limited as you have to take extra precautions to avoid blind spots and careless drivers which are common.

· Activities

In Hawaii, you can visit museums, go shopping, snorkel, see shows, lounge on the beach, hike, do road trips, dive and even go lava viewing. It just depends on the island that you are on.

· How Long You Should Stay

We’d say that it depends on what you want to do. If you’ve been there before, a week should be enough to relax and unwind. If it is, however, your first time and you want to do some heavy sightseeing, we recommend 10 days minimum.
