2 Things to DO in Douro Valley Portugal

Do we really need to gush about how beautiful Douro Valley is? It’s almost as if that’s the most common thing vacationers who have been to Portugal do. They talk about the country’s beauty, the wine, the cruises, the food; everything!

You can be lost when it comes to deciding where to go and, more importantly, what to try in Portugal. Worry not, because we know the best activities to keep you entertained and engaged.

Boat Tour Along the Douro River

The Douro River is long, deep and beautiful. That alone should justify a trip there, but add a comfy boat into the mix and that’s a recipe for great fun.

The boat could as well be a moving restaurant on water because you are treated to fabulous meals and drinks with professional yet friendly service. Their main purpose is to make sure the boat trip is nothing but pleasant for you.

There are day trips from Porto to Régua, and there are longer rides that take at least 7 days to complete. You can choose to go on any of them.

You’ll barely notice the passage of time though, because you’ll be too engrossed with all the musical shows and performances aboard. The barbecue should also be something to make the trip a little ‘tastier’, don’t you agree?

Go on a Train Ride

Boats aren’t the only way to move around Douro Valley. Trains offer great experiences too so make sure you check them out.

When it comes to train rides, the seasons also come with their perks because there are different rides for the different seasons, so there’s a lot of variety for you to choose from.

During the summer, you can go on the Historic Train, the Presidential or the MiraDouro. Winter will have you hopping into a regional train linking Porto to Régua or Pinhão.

Whichever of them you choose, you’re a guaranteed a fun and lively time. Really, don’t the individual names of the trains hint at that?

Wine Tasting at the Quinta do Bomfin

If there’s one activity we never get tired of, it’s wine wasting. Blessedly, and the Quinta do Bomfin has more than enough of that.

The Symington family has owned the Quinta do Bomfin for over 5 generations. Right at the house’s porch, wine tasting is held for visitors near and far, and we know that’s something you’re definitely looking forward to.

In addition to wine tasting, you’ll get an opportunity to take photos with ancient tools and instruments utilized in winemaking and viticulture. How many people get the chance to partake in something like that? A very few, we surmise.

It’s easy to see why Roux Luxury Travel considers Portugal as the perfect place for wine lovers and vacationers alike.
