2 Things to Do in Maipo Valley, Chile

About 50 kilometers southeast of Santiago, the capital of Chile, lies the Maipo Valley. Wine aficionados have a different way of referring to this place. They say it’s the genesis of the Chilean wine industry, which is the simple truth.

Being a full-service travel agency in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Roux Luxury Travels has planned hundreds of trips to Chile since 2011. With over 7000 acres of vineyards in Chile, we feel it’s a country which can give you the chance to see, appreciate and experience Chilean wine right from the source.

We also want you to experience the other things Maipo Valley offers, of course, so don’t limit yourself to just wine. The list written below highlights a few, choice activities you should find quite exciting as you visit Maipo Valley, Chile.

  • Hiking is Good for You

There’s going to be a lot of this in Chile. Maipo Valley doesn’t shy away from giving you a number of walking and hiking trails. Expect to burn a lot of calories before your vacation ends.

One of the easier treks will have you going to the peak of Cerro Manquehuito. This hill stands in the Lo Curro neighborhood (Santiago). And there’s no risk of getting lost because it’s a well-traveled path. It’s also clearly-marked, taking a mere 2 hours to complete.

All this means you’ll get the full experience of the hike while still having ample time to come back and try other activities.

  • Wineries Are Good for You Too

There are a ton of wineries to visit and tour in the Maipo Valley. To add to the experience, these guided tours will have you moving around beautiful and ancient gardens too.

The Concha y Toro Winery is a perfect example of one of the more picturesque wineries in this region. Naturally, there will be much wine tasting at the end of the tour, and you can choose from an incredible selection of wines at the winery’s ancient cellars. You can even take a bottle back home so your friends also get a ‘taste’ of what your vacation was like.

Did we forget to mention you will receive generous servings of cheese on the tours? We should also point out that each tour accommodates groups of at least 15 people, and don’t let the number bother you because regardless of how little or many you all are, the tour accommodates both pick-up and drop-off from your hotels to the winery.

There is very little you need to do here to enjoy yourself. The tour will cater to your needs once you get to the winery while Roux Luxury Travels will cater to everything you need to get you to Chile. Reach out to us and we’ll handle all of your travel arrangements for you.
