Little needs to be said to convince anyone of how rich Peru’s history and culture are. Case in point, the famous Inca ruins. Visitors come from all over the world to see it. Then there’s the food and Peruvian wine, which has had a noticeable impact on Peru’s culture. That even put it on the list of the top wine-producing regions of the world.

The places written down below are just a few of the many attractions Peru has conceived. Take a few days out of your vacation and go see them if you can. There’s always going to be something new and wonderful for you to see at each of them.

  • Machu Picchu

This is easily Peru’s most popular tourist attraction. It has also been ranked in top 10 archeological wonders of the world. This Machu Picchu is located in the Andes Mountains, about 7000 feet above sea level.

It was once a military fortress, and this will be evident once you see how strong it still looks even after centuries since it was erected. All visitors can explore the site and its surprisingly well-preserved buildings: Temples, houses, baths and fountains; many more.

The simple truth is, there’s more mystery than fact surrounding this ancient Inca site, but that’s one of the reasons seeing it is such a great experience. Walk amongst its walls and you can’t help but wonder about all the untold stories they hold.

  • Puno

Port cities are always a colorful and lively place because there’s always a mixture of diverse peoples and cultures due to the influx of visitors from foreign lands. Puno is no different. It’s a port city located on the shores of Titicaca (a lake) on the Altiplano of Peru.

The main attraction of the city is how it serves as a departure point for the floating islands of Titicaca, but the half-finished modern buildings filling the city are also worth visiting. It gives the whole place a unique look that is rarely seen anywhere else.

  • Mancora

It wouldn’t be a complete list if a beach wasn’t added in it, don’t you think? Many years ago, Mancora was just a simple but attractive roadside fishing port. Today, however, it’s probably the trendiest beach in the entire country. It attracts large crowds from every part of the world, so it’s definitely a beach your bare feet should walk over.
