Frequently Asked Questions About Booking Air For Your Regent Cruise

regent seven seas cruises air deviationsRegent Seven Seas Cruises advertises "Free Air" with all of their voyages, and this often causes a lot of confusion. If you are planning on cruising with Regent, you probably have questions about booking air for your Regent cruise.

Generally, we recommend that you book air separately whenever possible. This gives you the ultimate choice of your air schedule, travel dates and preferred airline. Roux Luxury Travel is able to assist you with these arrangements.

However, Regent's air fares are often a great value, and there are times when their air deals are too good to pass up.  If you do opt to take the Regent Seven Seas Cruises Air, here is some information that you need to know.

You won't be able to see your flight schedule until 75 days before your trip.

Unless you pay an Air Deviation Fee of $175 per person and request that the air schedule be prepared sooner, the only thing you will know is that Regent will get you from your gateway city to the city of embarkation and from your city of debarkation to your gateway city (or pre- or post-cruise hotel city, if applicable).

If you want immediate confirmation of your fights, you can book your flights through Regent Seven Seas Air Concierge within 270 days of sailing. Your flights will be confirmed upon request for a non-refundable deviation fee of $175 per person plus a possible fare differential and a deposit will be required before air is confirmed.

"Free" air is not available for all airport gateways.

Air inclusive pricing is offered for 22 primary gateways. The gateways are Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Halifax, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York City, Newark, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Tampa, Toronto, Vancouver, Washington, and West Palm BeachOther gateway cities, where available, require a supplement of $99 to $249 per person, each way.

If you don't use Regent's included air, you will get an air credit.

Each cruise fare includes the "free air" offer.   If you decide NOT to use the Regent air then you are given a  NON USE air credit  as a discount to the cruise fare.  Then you can make independent air arrangements.   The air credits vary by itinerary.

Pros and cons of requesting confirmed air arrangements.

Aside from the additional $175 per person fee, it can be a problem for two reasons; (1) there are many more canceled flights than in previous years, and due to this fact it seems that many of our clients with “custom” air end up getting changed anyway; and (2) you may pay additional charges for specific airlines or code of service fees that might have been assigned for no extra charge by the cruise line anyway.

If you wait for Regent to assign the air at approximately 75-days, you risk a bad itinerary with multiple connections. Alternatively, you may get a perfect itinerary as nothing else was available and the cruise line absorbs the additional fees and charges. If you don't like your itinerary, you can pay the Air Deviation fee and request a custom one within 60 days of your departure.

Regent's policy on air arrangements.

When making air arrangements, Regent reserves the right to choose the air carrier, routing and city airport from each gateway city and the right to change airline routing for any reason and/or re-route Guests without prior notice to the nearest departure city if adequate air service is unavailable.

Airline schedules will be available 75-days prior to departure and final air schedules will be ticketed approximately 35-days prior to departure. Roux Luxury Travel will check with Regent at 75-days prior to departure and forward you the itinerary as soon as it is available.  If you do not request an Air Deviation, your fligth route and schedule will be at Regent's sole discretion.

One Way Air Itineraries

Regent does allow one way flights for a reduced cost. You can also fly one way coach and one way business. If you can get frequent flier tickets one way only then you can use Regent for the other one way flight with a reduced air credit for the flight you did not use from Regent.

Air Deviation

If you would like to customize your air arrangements, go in early or stay over after the cruise or select specific routes or carriers, Regent will accept Air Deviation requests no earlier than 270-days prior to departure.

The air deviation fee is a non-refundable fee of $175 per person, payable at the time of booking. You can make multiple deviation requests at the same time for the same $175 per person. For instance arrive early and stay late, or request a specific airline. Any additional requested change at a later date will incur an additional $175 per person charge.  Air schedules may not be changed within 60-days of departure.

The air deviation fee is the service fee charge by Regent's Air Department to modify air. If the flights you request under your Air Deviation Request cost more than the air that Regent booked, you will also be required to pay the difference in air fare.

Platinum tier level guests receive one air deviation fee free per person on each cruise booking. Any additional deviation requests for a Platinum guest are charged at the normal rate of $175 per person

Pre- or Post-Cruise Hotel / Land Programs

If you purchase a pre- and/or post-cruise land or hotel program, through Regent then the Air Department will assign your air itinerary accordingly.  If a Regent hotel package is removed from a booking with the Reservations Department, the Air Department automatically updates the air schedule to match the sailing dates. However, if you purchase Regent Air but make independent pre- and/or post-cruise hotel arrangements, then this is considered a “break in service” and thus you will be forced to pay the Air Deviation fee of $175 per person.

Transfers

If you have chosen a pre- or post-cruise stay and do not purchase the hotel from Regent, then you forfeit the included ground transfers to or from the ship.

Seat assignments, Frequent Flyer Numbers and Award Upgrades – Contact the airlines directly.

Regent will not confirm airline seat assignments, add frequent flier numbers to airline records, and/or request special meals.  These services should be arranged directly by you. In almost all cases, the tickets issued by Regent cannot be upgraded with frequent flyer miles.
