In Spring of 2016, a small group of Roux Luxury Travel clients went on the AMAWaterways Tulip Time Cruise through Belgium and The Netherlands. It was my first experience with AMAWaterways, and their service and attention to detail was extraordinary. The video below shows some of my photos from the trip.
The Itinerary: It's fantastic. The Netherlands and Belgium are definitely worth putting on your travel list. The Tulip Time itinerary is about a lot more than tulips. There are excursions and stops for WWII history buffs, beer lovers, and foodies. This trip was scheduled just after the terrorist attack at the Belgium airport, and the people of Antwerp and Bruges where gracious and grateful that we still visited their beautiful country.
AMAWaterways Dining: The dining was definitely a highlight on this trip, particularly the Chef's Table dinner paired with wines. Food and service on board were top notch, as you would expect from a Chaine des Rotisseurs member cruise line. Off the ship, Belgium offered some great meals - mussels in white wine sauce, amazing chocolates, and the waffles that we could just not stop eating!
AMAWaterways Service: AMAWaterways understands and delivers great service. Embarkation was surprisingly easy. My group arrived early on embarkation day, and we fully expected to have to wait until 3pm for our rooms to be ready. Instead, we were checked in immediately, and then invited into the lounge where a light lunch buffet was laid out for us. Little things like this make a big difference, particularly when you've just landed in the morning after a long overnight flight.
