Things to Do & Places to See in Piedmont, Italy

Piedmont might be a little-known place to you but its one of three prominent wine regions in Italy. As a full-service travel agency in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Roux Luxury Travel doesn’t want you to miss out on seeing what Piedmont has to offer. Here’s a hint of what to expect: Barbaresco and Barolo are regarded as two of the world’s finest wines, and guess what? Piedmont produces both of them...

  • Eataly (Restaurant)

No, that wasn’t a typo. Eataly is a real place. Founded in 2001, the market place and chain of restaurants have now transcended Italian borders to root itself in several countries around the world. But of course, nothing can match the original, so go to Italy to see what the buzz about this place is.

The options on the menu are many but there are particular delicacies unanimously agreed to be the tastiest. They range from Piedmonts beef, more than 250 different kinds of handcrafted cheese and handmade pasta (it is Italy, after all); and focaccia di Recco (a flatbread that’s favorite of the locals).

  • I Piaceri del Gusto (Wine & Book Store)

It wouldn’t be a Roux Luxury Travel-organized vacation if it didn’t have wine, would it? A bookstore that doubles as a wine store might seem like a surprising choice for a merger but think of it this way: You get to taste the best wines while learning everything there is to know about them.

The best part of the I Piaceri del Gusto is its cellar of extremely rare wines, but there’s more. Since 1996, travelers from around the world have also been attracted to the foods it serves. The specially-prepared truffles and mushrooms are always a favorite of anyone who enters this store. Even the environment, which screams of class and elegance, is a notable feature of the I Piaceri del Gusto.

  • Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo (Museum)

Italy is the home of great artists like Michelangelo, Raphael and Leonardo Da Vinci, so you can’t expect to see great things in the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo.

It differs from other museums, though, because it supports contemporary art. The names of the artists may not ring any bells with you but that’s not to say their works are to be ignored.

We chose this particular museum because it offers the most unique selection of exhibitions and modern pieces of art we’ve ever seen. It was once an industrial space, but has now been completely morphed into a place to showcase what Italy’s new artists are capable of.

Certain days are celebrated for particular events. Sundays entertain families and enlighten students on the cultural mediation service. Go there alone or take your family with you because there’s bound to be one activity or another to cater to all of you.

The years Roux Luxury Travel has spent organizing vacations the world over for vacationers makes us the perfect choice to plan your vacation in Italy. Give us a call and let’s go over exactly what Italy has ready for you.
