wine tasting in spainWine tasting anywhere in the world can prove to be spectacular, but in Spain it is delightful to combine that with a taste of history and beauty that is outstanding. There are numerous magnificent vineyards, and it is impossible to mention them all, but here is a sampling of what you will find when you vacation in Spain. You will visit wineries, discover wine-making secrets, stay in accommodation set inside vineyards, and discover the joys of matching food with an appropriate wine. Wine tasting in Spain is a great experience not be missed.

Wine Routes in the Marco de Jerez Region

This area in the south of Andalusia has a deeply rooted wine producing tradition, gorgeous countryside, charming towns, and a rich variety of wines. There are dry ones, naturally sweet wines like Muscatel which are produced by letting the grapes over-ripen, and even naturally sweet and full-bodied liqueur wines and sherries such as Manzanilla-Sanlúcar de Barrameda sherry, which is a full-bodied wine that is dry at the outset and sweet on the palate.

The historic city of Jerez in Cadiz, Andalusia, has been celebrating its appointment as the 'European Wine City 2014' with numerous activities from October 9, 2013 to continue through January 6, 2015 related to wine tourism, flamenco and the spectacular world of Cartujana horses and equestrian art. Still to come, for example, are the ‘European Wine Tourism Days’ from November 6 through 9 and ‘Christmas in Jerez: Zambomba and Wine'.

This area boasts over 3,200 hours of sunshine per year, has the influence of the Atlantic Ocean, excellent soil and winds that guarantee perfect ripening of the grapes. The cuisine of Jerez adds its wide range of wines to the preparation of its most typical meat, fish and shellfish recipes which must contain wines, vinegar, and brandy from the Jerez denomination of origin.

Navarre Wine Route

The central area of Navarro is a land with rich history as well as modern windmills set stop the hills. It lies on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route, which has a UNESCO World Heritage designation, and shows the importance that wine has had in the region since Roman times. There are 25 villages and towns that make up the Navarre Wine Route. Some of the wineries are hundreds of years old and others are more modern.

Navarre wines are mostly aromatic with almost fruity flavors that are almost fruity and smooth on the palate. The whites have fine aromas and a crisp taste. The rosés are famous for their unmistakable character and are crisp, dry and delicate. The red wines are also a treat for the palate. The most popular grape is the Garnacha variety.

Bullas Wine Route

This Region of Murcia is a Mediterranean area with a wine-growing history and culture, over 200 traditional wineries, and a Wine Museum. You can sample quality wines, enjoy landscapes of vineyards, and see monuments and heritage related to wine culture.

Bullas is the focal point for this wine route and is traditionally a region for red wines, although its whites and rosés are also excellent. The Montrasell variety of red wine is outstanding with a highly intense blue-violet color together with its unique aroma, flavor and abundance of components that also give health properties.
